Ability: Strength

Athletics measures your ability to perform physically demanding activities including climbing, jumping, running, and swimming. It also covers feats of raw physical power.

Example Uses

  • Jump farther than normal
  • Stay afloat in rough water
  • Break something with brute force
  • Climb difficult surfaces
  • Swim against strong currents

When to Use Athletics

The GM might call for a Strength (Athletics) check when you attempt to:

  • Climb a sheer cliff face
  • Jump across a wide chasm
  • Swim upstream or in stormy waters
  • Break down a door or bust through chains
  • Maintain your grip while hanging from a rope
