Medicine measures your ability to diagnose illnesses, treat wounds, and care for the sick and injured. It represents knowledge of anatomy, diseases, and healing practices.

Example Uses

  • Diagnose an illness
  • Determine what killed the recently slain
  • Stabilize a dying creature
  • Treat diseases and poisons
  • Perform basic surgery or medical procedures

When to Use Medicine

The GM might call for a Wisdom (Medicine) check when you attempt to:

  • Stabilize a character who has 0 hit points
  • Diagnose a strange disease or poison
  • Determine the cause of someone's death
  • Treat a complex injury or illness
  • Recognize the symptoms of a magical affliction

Difficulty Examples

  • DC 10: Treating minor wounds or recognizing common illnesses
  • DC 15: Stabilizing a dying person or diagnosing unusual symptoms
  • DC 20: Treating rare diseases or performing complex medical procedures
  • DC 25: Dealing with magical diseases or near-impossible medical challenges
