Perception measures your general awareness of your surroundings and the keenness of your senses. It involves using a combination of senses to notice something that's easy to miss.

Example Uses

  • Notice something that's easy to miss using a combination of senses
  • Spot hidden creatures or objects
  • Listen for approaching danger
  • Detect subtle changes in your environment
  • Notice details others might overlook

When to Use Perception

The GM might call for a Wisdom (Perception) check when you attempt to:

  • Spot a hidden creature or trap
  • Hear someone approaching through a door
  • Notice that someone is following you
  • Detect a concealed object or clue
  • Sense that something is "off" about a situation

Difficulty Examples

  • DC 10: Noticing obvious things that others might miss
  • DC 15: Spotting well-hidden objects or detecting subtle sounds
  • DC 20: Finding expertly concealed items or noticing nearly silent movement
  • DC 25: Detecting things hidden by magic or supernatural means
